When Janice Davies moved into The Shoreline on 19 December 2023, she was ready for a new chapter. After many years in her beautiful home in Korora, the decision was less about leaving something behind and more about choosing the lifestyle she wanted next.
“For me, it was a lifestyle change,” Janice says. “I felt it was what I needed to do.” It is a move she has never regretted.
Unlike many people who spend months wondering whether community living will suit them, Janice says she had no reservations. From the beginning, she trusted her decision and has since found The Shoreline to be welcoming, supportive and full of opportunities to connect.
What she loves most is the sense of belonging. “We are all in The Shoreline family,” she says. Being surrounded by people at a similar stage of life has made settling in easy, and it has brought friendships she did not expect.
In fact, the biggest surprise has been just how much fun life has become. “I have never had so much fun and made so many friends,” Janice says.
Her calendar is proof. Janice enjoys aqua aerobics, cards, girls’ lunches, day trips, Shoreline events, happy hour and Friday night get-togethers. These are the moments that turn neighbours into friends and everyday life into something lively and meaningful.
For anyone unsure about making the move, Janice’s advice is simple: “It will be the best decision you will make.” She says The Shoreline offers a beautiful place to live, with maintenance and practical worries taken care of, giving residents more time to enjoy themselves and each other.
Janice has also been part of Open Day at The Shoreline and believes visitors can expect a warm welcome. Residents are happy to show people around, answer questions and share honestly how happy they are.
