There’s a sense of excitement building at The Shoreline this week, as the first residents prepare to move into the brand-new Watermark Apartments—earlier than expected.
From Friday 20 March, a new chapter begins for a number of locals who have chosen to downsize and embrace a more connected, coastal lifestyle within the Shoreline community.
Among them is long-time Coffs Harbour resident Greta Lindsay, who says the move marks one of the most positive decisions she’s made in years.
“I love my life here at The Shoreline and am so excited to be relocating into the Watermark Apartments to enjoy the ocean and Jetty views that my new apartment has an abundance of,” Greta said.
“I’m also really looking forward to meeting more new friends to add to our Shoreline family. Moving into The Shoreline has been the best thing I’ve done in years.”
Greta’s story reflects a broader trend, with strong demand continuing for the Watermark Apartments, now 65 per cent sold. The majority of buyers are locals from Coffs Harbour and surrounding areas, many of whom are making the decision to downsize from family homes in favour of a more manageable, community-focused lifestyle.
For residents, the move is about more than just a new home—it’s about connection, convenience and peace of mind. The Shoreline offers a unique blend of independence and support, allowing people to maintain their lifestyle while knowing future care is close at hand.
Over the past three years, more than 100 apartments have been sold across The Shoreline village, with over 95 per cent purchased by locals. This has also had a flow-on effect in the wider community, freeing up housing stock as residents transition from larger homes.
General Manager of Bachrach Naumburger Group, Steve Gooley, said the milestone reflects both the strength of the local community and the appeal of The Shoreline lifestyle.
“The Shoreline has definitely been a fantastic economic driver in Coffs Harbour,” he said.
“Three years since opening the original buildings, we’ve now sold more than 100 apartments, and over 95 per cent of those buyers are locals. Many of those residents have sold their family homes, which has helped free up housing stock across the region.”
Beyond the lifestyle benefits for residents, The Shoreline has played a significant role in supporting the local economy, employing up to 150 workers during construction and continuing to provide hundreds of ongoing roles across care, hospitality and support services.
